Liberdade!!!

Tui laia raia di
laia raia de
da heia raie
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

Por amor andei já
Tanto chão e mar,
Senhor já nem sei
Se o amor não é mais
Bastante pra vencer.
Eu já sei o que vou fazer,
Meu Senhor:
Uma oração,
Vou cantar para ver se vai valer,

Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

Ah! meu santo defensor,
Traga o meu amor,

Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

Se é praga ou oração,
Mil vezes cantarei

Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

Ah! meu santo defensor,
Traga o meu amor,

Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

Se é praga ou oração,
Mil vezes cantarei

Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!
Laia ladaia sabadana Ave-Maria!

"Prayer"

[This song has been lurking around in my player for months but it was only this afternoon that I was able to listen to it as I usually use random play mode 24/7. Strange that this song came up... right as a I was passing through Mangahan Floodway, on my way from Rosario junction to Ligaya. Especially with the events of the past few days. Maybe there aren't really any coincidences in this world eh???]

A paz seja-lhe o amigo que eu amo.

Top Ten Things I Learned From My Trip To Japan

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

10.) Thems Japanese are crazy (with a kapital 'Z').

9.) A man cannot live on Japanese curry alone. (But he can survive for 12 nights straight on a regular dinner of Hotdogs and scrambled eggs...)

8.) Andrew E. is the one who makes Crayon Shin Chan funny.

7.) Wearing wire-rimmed glasses and a long-sleeved polo, and smiling a lot makes you look a hell of a lot gentler then you usually do. (It also helps you bring on an excess 12 kilos of cargo from the pretty JAL baggage check-in lady and helps you get past Philippine customs without a hitch, hehehe)

6.) The patrons of the neighborhood "Erotic Sex Shop" (excluding those who visit out of the noble search for knowledge of course) are pretty much weird (hence the term Hentai...)

5.) 2 wind-breakers do not count as "Weatherproof Rain-gear" (and 10° C is pretty damn cold).

4.) We rearry are "Phirippine Banana".

3.) Getting sandwiched by giggling high school girls on a train ride is not that great... But it is much-much-MUCH better than getting sandwiched by giggling, smelly, old businessmen...

2.) Never drop your 3-day old digital camera on the rocky slopes of Mt. Fuji (the pamphlets were right... at 3,810m, it truly is a "REAL" mountain).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And the #1 thing I learned from my trip to Japan was...

1.) The fine for sexually harassing a female passenger on a train is ¥300,000.

Oh yeah!

Buhay mahirap muna...

Ang current peso-yen exchange rate ay Y1.00 = PhP0.46012. With that in mind... iisipin mong mass mura ang mga bilihin dito.

But no...

Yaha! JS1200 here I come!

Magsasama kaming magbubuhay mahirap muna...

Baggage

Ay-yah!

More or less... essentials ko lang dala ko... tulad ng "Man and Superman", Pen kit, sketchpad, studs, bola... etc... nyaha... ano ba yan...

(hmmm... bati naman ata tayo... more... or less... i think)

Wish me luck! Fare you well, and fare me well.

scorching summer winds
a release from winter's grip
steel feathers falling

[Half a moon away, fourteen dreams from now.
If all goes well, released on a day for freedom.
As they send their dragons skyward, so shall I, take to the winds.
On wings of iron, it's tail aflame, the crane shall take me,
into the rising sun...]

It's been a year and 20 days since I started working at ci-tech (among other things...). For almost half that time, I'd been waiting for one of the few real perks of my job, apart from flexi-time: Travel Opportunities. In a few weeks time, ahead of everyone in our batch, ahead even of the batch before us, I'll be leaving the Philippines.

I was scheduled for the end of July, but the engineers in SOC wanted me to leave earlier, so with a great big rush, we started processing my documents yesterday. Give or take a few days, I'll be landing at Narita on July 04, 2006. Big deal right??? Damn-right! I'm already very excited!!!

I'll be needing a lot of supplies, considering that everything costs a hell of a lot more in Tokyo. Clothes, toiletries, shoes, everything! If I could only bring with me a sack of rice and a hunk of jerked beef, I would!

I've got a LOT of shopping to do.

Hmmm... clothes... damn... It just so happens that the office in shimo requires slacks, leather shoes, and collared shirts... three things I don't necessarily have in quantity... I'll only be able to do my laundry once a week, so I'll need a set of clothes that'll last more than 7 days, unless of course I want to do my load clad in just a bathrobe (like a certain samurai we know)... I'll bet the local people would just love that aye?

All that stuff will need to go into something... So I'll need a new suitcase (since we don't have an old one). My backpack, the old patched-up fogey isn't Tokyo-street-worthy anymore, hehe. Plus, my eyesight is bad right now, very bad. I'll need new glasses.

All these will dent my considerably diminished resources... thanks to birthday misfortunes... It's a good thing then that they'll advance my allowance for all those weeks, YAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!

There are a ton of reasons why I'm excited. Let's list them down...
  • The best Ibanez models are made and sold in Japan and so-called "luxury goods" are very-very cheap there (JS1200 or Artcore??? HEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!! )
  • Mt. Fuji
  • REAL Japanese Cuisine
  • #ent@1 (4 my prens, I promise!!!)
  • AKIHABARA!!! (mamumulubi talaga ako dahil dito, pramis...)
  • HARAJUKU (Uhhh... Harajuku-girls??? gothic lolitas??? neh... me simbahan sa Ruponggi... totoo!!!)
  • DVD's, DVD's, DVD's
  • dirt-cheap Master Grade Gundam kits
  • Authentic Konoha head-protectors anyone?
  • Sake

There are lots more reasons, but I'll leave the list as it is for now.

Hmmm... I've been thinking of how to celebrate my departure... On July 1, we'll be playing at mag:net. That's a saturday night... so maybe afterwards, I can party till tuesday morning, hehe... Let's see what comes up.

July 28, 2006.

It won't be all fun and games though... The japanese are notoriously hardworking. It remains to be seen whether or not I'll survive their rigorous discipline. I also won't be able to enjoy the comforts that living with your own family has, such as 24-hour houskeeping and a fully stocked ref...

That's not even taking into consideration that I'll be leaving a considerably large portion of my life here in the Philippines... It's a good thing that they're football crazy over there. My friends and family can always reach me through the net and a roaming cellphone... but I don't have one right now... demmit... (add a phone to my shopping list).

Nevertheless... I just wanna get outta here for a while, and I wanna get out of here now!!! Let's go!!!

But no!!!

Oh yeah... Rai, Happy Birthday nga!!!

[Hmmm... pano kaya next week? Medyo kinakabahan na ako... Last year, hmmm... Masaya ba birthday ko last year???

Naks!

So... ano ngayon kinalaman non sa title ng post na to??? Well... I'm a gettin' there...

Isang... hmmm... kaibigan...

Pero pinost ko pa talaga sa not a blog eh no? Baka matuwa kayo eh...

Lost and Found

So... ano ngayon??? Wala akong telepono, ang pangunahing means of communication ko sa mga tao-tao (minsan nga mas mahaba pa nga kwentuhan with my freinds through text kesa kapag nagkikita-kita kami, whatdahell?!). Unreachable ako ngayon. Good or bad???

Nanghihinanayang ako sa telepono ko. Mahal pa man din matinong no-frills phone ngayon.

[Pero kung gusto niyong magkaphone ako, you can send your donations to Makati PO box 3234, o kaya text niyo lang ako lagi na magphone ako ulit... uhuh-uhuh]

Remember, remember, the 5th of November...

51 Days

It's been 51 days (1,224 hours, 73,440 minutes, or 4,406,400 seconds) since I've last made an actual post in this space... that's a long, long time... As expected, a lot of stuff has happened in that span of time but so far, nothing occured that sparked me to write an article (please read page title, repeat after me, this is not...).

What about this post then? Well... I figured I'd give people who visit something new to read, even though it is uncharacteristic of me to volunteer this kind of information, hehe...

So, to arrest my tendency to vaguely ramble on and on and on... here's a bulleted list of things that might be a mite interesting(Warning: information overload imminent). Enjoy!

*Overcame one or two weeks of wanting to be invited to (most probably non-existent) birthday party that I wouldn't want to attend... even on penalty of death. (do I want you to be happy??? no wishes for you then)

*At last! Learned name of singer of SH! (found out she might be interested in Sid, damnit...)

*One more instance of tardiness = termination... but...

*Found out undergrad thesis adviser setting up own engineering firm, oh yeah!

*[Almost died one weekend]
Friday night: 6UG,
Saturday noon: vs. Lufthansa,
Saturday night: Gweilo's Eastwood(saw how beautiful darna could have been without her silly chin, and, if she were punk... and really tall brother got hit upon by group of kiddy-girls and/or one really tall gay guy),
Sunday noon: vs. Indian FC. (more than 2 hours of continuous coughing... blast that manila air-Update: now breathing normally)

*(Almost insignificant-) Pay raise amidst shoddy disciplinary record prompts a loud cry of "Positive! Positive!!!"

*Found out how small world really is, and found out meaning of serendipity, all thanks to Joe ("da boss").

*Bacolod(Cauayan actually) confirmed. Flight on April 29. Nice!!!

*Daily Sched: 8AM: wake up; 8:30AM: wake up again; 9:00AM: really wake-up; 10AM-7PM: toil away (translation: sleep) at work; 8PM: go to wack-wack; 3PM: go home and get some much needed sleep.

*Met Bagus, he's on-board. Must now figure out a way to tell Marvin...

*Next "The In Crowd": April 24th, mag.net katipunan

*Found total90 for a measely P1,700. Must buy immediately!

*New DVD player. Plays DivX!!! Ubos kang naruto ka ngayon... and... might finally watch "the complete picture"... or might burn DVD as a sacrifice to the gods of vengeance instead...

*April 12 is mom's birthday. Noteworthy moments? None really...

*And to end it all: I'm getting my first actual vacation in a while... though it might turn up to be a "working" vacation... need... to... practice. We'll most probably be back in civilization on Sunday...

Ciao!!!

(PS: This might be my last post for a long while to come, what else is new eh???)

Unculloteable

[I am unculloteable.]

Fun Fact of the Day (#87256)

Diabetes mellitus is a medical disorder characterized by varying or persistent hyperglycemia (elevated blood sugar levels), especially after eating. All types of diabetes mellitus share similar symptoms and complications at advanced stages. Hyperglycemia itself can lead to dehydration and ketoacidosis. Longer-term complications include cardiovascular disease (doubled risk), chronic renal failure (it is the main cause for dialysis), retinal damage which can lead to blindness, nerve damage which can lead to erectile dysfunction (impotence), gangrene with risk of amputation of toes, feet, and even legs. Serious complications are much less common in people who control their blood sugars well with lifestyle and medications.

Most of the carbohydrates in food are rapidly converted to glucose, the principal sugar in blood. Insulin is produced by beta cells in the pancreas in response to rising levels of glucose in the blood, as occurs after a meal. Insulin makes it possible for most body tissues to remove glucose from the blood for use as fuel, for conversion to other needed molecules, or for storage. Insulin is also the principal control signal for conversion of glucose (the basic sugar unit) to glycogen for storage in liver and muscle cells. Lowered insulin levels result in the reverse conversion of glycogen to glucose when glucose levels fall — though only glucose so produced in the liver goes into the blood. Higher insulin levels increase many anabolic ("building up") processes such as cell growth, cellular protein synthesis, and fat storage. Insulin is the principal signal in converting many of the bidirectional processes of metabolism from a catabolic to an anabolic direction.

Type 1 diabetes develops when the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas have been destroyed. Nobody knows for sure why these cells have been damaged but the most likely cause is an abnormal reaction of the body to the cells. This may be triggered by a viral or other infection. This type of diabetes generally affects younger people. Both sexes are affected equally.

Type 2 develops when the body can still make some insulin, but not enough, or when the insulin that is produced does not work properly (known as insulin resistance). In most cases this is linked with being overweight. This type of diabetes usually appears in people over the age of 40, though in South Asian and African-Caribbean people it often appears after the age of 25.

Sweets do not cause diabetes.

Day 4, the adventure continues...

Subject: Tittel, HJC Jr.
Status: Exhausted
State of Mind: Optimistic Disbelief

It's hard to believe that it has only been 4 days since this adventure began... I can't exactly say that it has been my life's dream to do this, but the amount of effort I've put into this is a testament to my dedication...

Everyday since thursday...

3:30 AM. I've just arrived after a session... straight from burger machine. Less than 4 hours of sleep left...

Yesteday(saturday) was in Alabang, damn that sven ( <-funny story )... I had to leave a good friend's birthday celebration(pizza and beer! yipee!!!) for that and we were only able to go home at 6 in the morning(sunday, today). Whatever...

I'm already amassing a heck of a lot of funny, amusing, enterataining stories, so at the very least... I got that.

Tomorrow(today, monday), we have another. Hope marvin shows up, and fred's not too drunk... but he's cool that way.

Tuesday, same thing.

Wednesday, another one. But it's the big day. The day that we find out if we have what it takes... Whatever happens, I plan to enjoy this entire experience... And you should too dear reader(wink-wink).

3 days left then.

Until I receive clearance to announce all that I know about it... I'm keeping quiet... Although I'm having a hard time stopping myself from sharing this will the whole wide world... (hence this post, hehe)

And besides... I'm having a hard time believing it all myself... Damn!

Wish us luck. Whatever this is we're doing, hehe.

Momordica Charantia
